👉🏻 Exfoliate and shave the day before 

Exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells, which then reveals the fresh skin underneath. Extra care in the drier areas. This fresh skin is primed and ready to absorb the spray tan solution evenly and deeply. This means that you'll have a more even tan for longer. If shaving, avoid shaving cream that has mineral oil or added moisturizers which would cause a barrier to your skin and prevent spray tan to absorb properly and cause uneven tan. 

 

👉🏻  Day of spray tanning 

Do not apply any lotions, oils, deodorant, perfumes, or makeup. All of these can create a barrier on your skin that the tan may not adhere to. If you have the time, take a cool water shower with soap immediately before you come to make sure all products are washed off of your skin.

 

👉🏻 Wear loose-fitting garments

If you wear tight clothes for the tanning session, it can lead to tan lines. The spray tan solution containing DHA might even rub off on your clothes. It cannot only stain your clothes but also remove the tan leading to streaks and patches.

 

👉🏻 Wear dark colors

When picking out clothes for a spray tan, another essential thing to keep in mind is to go for darker shades. Fresh tan can rub off on clothes, even if you give it enough time to dry. Other options are to be nude or use the disposables complimented.

👉🏻 Wait 8-12 hrs before first rinse off. Express can be rinsed from 1-4 hrs. 

Many drugstore soaps (Dove) and bar soaps leave an invisible film on your skin that will not allow the sunless tan to penetrate properly resulting in a streaky, discolored tan. Dove can also make your tan fade faster and has the ability to turn it brassy due to how it alters your skin's pH! You do not rub/scratch too hard to avoid tan removal.  DO NOT wash your hair during your first rinse, this will cause streaking when the soap runs down your skin. 

 

Wash skin with products that do not have Mineral Oil and Sodium Laureth Sulfate, which can significantly reduce the life of a Sunless Tan. No-No list soaps: Dove, Bath & Body Works, Victoria’s Secret, Oil of Olay, Jergen's, Vaseline Intensive Care, Curell, most bar soaps, any deodorant that is not all-natural, and acne body washes.

 

Exposure to water can also lead to your spray tan fading, so the fewer showers you take before your event, the better. And you will also want to avoid going into swimming pools after your spray tan, as chlorine will fade its color quickly.

 

It will take about 48 hours for your spray tan to fully dry, so avoid wearing any important outfits before then to limit the likelihood of

staining.

 

👉🏻 Can I pee after a spray tan in the shower?

Please do not pee in the shower when you have an Airbrush Spray Tan, the ammonia in the urine will cause your tan to streak. Do not use any soap during your first rinse. Once out of the shower pat your skin dry, do not rub.

 

👉🏻 Moisturize daily 

Is one of the key reasons that your sunless tan has faded faster than you'd hoped. While many of us moisturize daily already as part of your normal skincare routine, moisturizing when you have a tan is important to help maintain that glow for longer. Very dry skin can affect how skin pick up the self-tanner's color, and cause an uneven tan. Fortunately, this doesn't have to be the case. No matter how dry your skin is, you can still fake your way to a flawless tan while avoiding sun damage.
